For urban, rooftop and container farms

Your farm is the site. Every kitchen is an order.

You grow on your own roof, in a container or under glass at the edge of town, and deliver to several kitchens every week. Ortalio is built to turn those orders into sowings and match every delivery to the order it fills.

What supplying kitchens asks of you

Four things a farm that delivers to kitchens has to keep straight.

  1. Your own farm is the site.

There’s no client’s garden to visit: the beds, racks and channels are yours, on a roof, in a container or under glass. The record still needs a place for each of them.

On the recordYour farm as a site, with each bed, rack and channel a growing station.

  2. Orders add up to sowings.

Three kitchens want pea shoots on Friday. Their orders, added together, decide how many trays go in on Tuesday and when the next succession starts.

On the recordEach standing weekly order, and the successions sown to fill them.

  3. One harvest, split by kitchen.

Thursday’s cut is packed into a crate for each kitchen. When something comes up short, you decide which order carries it, and the chef hears it from you.

On the recordWhat each kitchen got from each cut, and where a short went.

  4. Billed per delivery, or once a month.

Some chefs want an invoice with each drop, others one at the end of the month. Either way it should list what was delivered.

On the recordEach delivery on the invoice, per delivery or per month, as you choose.

One harvest day, three kitchens

Thursday’s cut, shared across three standing weekly orders.

Scroll through Thursday on your farm: each crop is cut, then shared out to Fennel & Ash, Saltmarsh and Little Ember. The Little Gem comes up four short, and it goes where you decide.

Built to

What Ortalio is built to do for a farm that supplies kitchens.

  • Keep your own farm as a site, its beds, racks and channels as growing stations.
  • Hold each kitchen’s standing weekly order and every delivery made against it.
  • Plan successions to fill the orders, so the next sowing is in before the last cut.
  • Log each delivery line by line, with shorts and substitutions.
  • Invoice per delivery or per month, listing what was delivered.

Ortalio is built for the plan and the record. It doesn’t route vans or take orders from chefs online.

Where the work sits

From your own roof to every kitchen door.

A farm that delivers keeps its work in a handful of places, every week. Ortalio is built to keep each of them on one record.

  1. The rooftop or container
  2. The greenhouse
  3. The grow-room racks
  4. The packing table
  5. Each kitchen’s door
  6. The month’s invoices

Keep exploring

The rest of the routine.

Ortalio keeps the record of what you planned, read, cut and delivered. It does not certify food safety, trace produce for a regulator or forecast yields: the record is yours, and the kitchen reads what you choose to send.
